Becoming a Financially Conscious Traveler

I recently traveled to Cancun for a summer vacation; and boy, did I need that vacation! As I was there I literally felt all the stress from my everyday life melt away from me. I would like to share with you all how attainable this vacation was for me, and how it can be attainable for you as well! My goal for this blog post is to be as transparent as I can in order to prove my argument of the positives of going on a vacation. Yes, that will include the juicy details like, the exact cost of the vacation, and how much I actually spent. So, stick around!

Charitable Giving - Guest Blog Post

Let’s begin with not assuming a presupposition that the concept of charitable giving is important. Asking oneself “wouldn’t my life and relationships be happier with more money” is a fair question. In fact, it is a question that I often wrestle with myself.

The Low Down on Student Loans

I have been binging on Game of Thrones a lot recently (do not worry -- no spoilers here!), I had not joined the bandwagon at the beginning so there is a lot of catching up to do. It can get pretty confusing sometimes too, and I have to stop and ask about the storyline or the character's situation and how that is significant! And then, just when you think things are going one way, the storyline throws a curveball and all of a sudden the two most unlikely characters are on a journey together across the land/sea/forest. Sometimes things are not always as you think they are. One minute you feel like you are on the path to being debt free from student loans only to realize those pesky student loans will not be going away for a while!

Credit Card Do's and Don'ts

Recently, I have received a few inquiries with regards to credit card spending. It sounds to me like people are generally thinking about how they can be responsible with their credit cards. So, with that in mind, I am devoting this blog post to the proper use of credit cards.

What's the Deal with Balancing Your Checkbook?

I love Seinfeld. I love his little jokes that he throws into his shows. “What’s the deal with lampshades?! I mean, if it’s a lamp why do you want shade??” He seems to be the only comedian who can cover a wide range of topics and still be VERY family friendly! I love how Seinfeld can take everyday concepts and poke it a little until it is funny! He even has a bit about checkbooks. Take a minute to listen to this funny bit it will make this balancing a checkbook blog post a little lighter!

In this next series we turn to individuals within my network who are proven to be successful in their side hustle.

Let’s Talk More About Budgeting

For this blog post I am focusing on 2 things: savings and credit card debt. With these being hot topics, I feel we need to explore them a little bit more. When I started writing this entry, I hoped to cover more topics. However, as I wrote I realized I had more to say on these two topics than I originally thought! I am not saying I have everything all together, but my life experiences have taught me a good deal. I feel like we could all use this opportunity to share and grow with each other. Let me know in the comments section if this is helpful information, or if you have another strategy for building savings or getting out of debt that you would like to share!

Variables of Change

For those who know me, already know I am a huge fan of Grey’s Anatomy. I have watched this show since the beginning! I think the creators of Grey’s Anatomy have a way of explaining life so very poignantly. Here is a quote from their Season 7, Episode 1. There is no need for a backstory, as you will learn why. Stick with it, this is a good quote…

Introducing you to me

Over the past 15 years I have worked with a number of managers with multiple budgets. Part of my strategy is to train those managers to read financial data so they may understand the story behind the numbers. Trust me, the numbers do tell a story!
